The “MachMitMob” (german for “join in mob”) sustainability 2010 140 characters for sustainability The MachMitMob 2010 is our way of demonstrating the importance of sustainable actions. As a virtual flashmob, the goal of MachMitMob is to put all aspects of sustainabiltity in the spotlight for an entire day. And like a flashmob, the MachMitMob will be all the more impressive if more people join in! Our call to action: On the 16th of July, we will be posting Tweets on all aspects of sustainability that may affect or move us personally. All entries will be marked with the tag #MachMit! Also, all Tweets will also be presented on the website www.MachMitMob.de. And we want to invite all individuals, companies and groups to support us on this undertaking with active participation during the MachMitMob 2010. Everybody that would like to encourage sustainability is welcome to join in! Anybody that feels inspired to tweet, be it by themselves or with others, or to organize a real-life event and twitter the results is sincerely welcome! Why just in Germany? The MachMitMob-Team basically consists of Germans only – that’s where our contacts and our social networks are located – therefore, we believe that we have a realistic chance of becoming Trending-Topic here. However, don’t let that stop you from joining in and supporting us! Tweets from all over the world, in different languages are very much welcome as well! What can you do? Tweet yourself – send this note via blogs, forum, or mail to friends, family and acquaintances of yours, and get the people that are interested in sustainability involved. Topic – what is part of it? Anything and everything concerning sustainability – this can range from climate protection, conscious consumption, avoidance of unnecessary litter, fair and healthy working environments, the preservation of wildlife all the way to ethical investments or any other aspect that you can connect to sustainability. - Everyday advice: Do I have any daily routines that are considered to be sustainable? Can I animate others to do so as well? (For example: conscious shopping, ecological financial investments, soft tourism, etc.) - Real-world events: Do I have a special, real-life event planned for this day (maybe even together with friends, family, colleagues or classmates, etc.)? An event that sends a clear signal for more sustainability (for example using the stairs instead of an elevator, not using the car, using a mug instead of a plastic cup, etc.). - Precursors: Do I know of any other initiative or project, an invention or even a work-method (for example anything done by my employer, by an association or club, or any other individual), contributing to or making aware of sustainability? - Your additional ideas for more sustainability! Who can join? Everybody! Sustainability is an important and extensive topic and only as a team can we make an impact! No matter if you participate as an individual, as a company, association, club, administrative office, or even a school-class, everybody that wants to set an example for sustainability is welcome to join in.
